Responsibilities
- Specimen Collection: Perform venipunctures and capillary draws with precision and minimal patient discomfort.
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients, verify demographics, and explain procedures to ensure a positive experience.
- Quality Control: Label and process blood samples accurately according to laboratory protocols and safety standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and sterilize phlebotomy equipment and workstations in compliance with OSHA and CLIA regulations.
- Record Keeping: Accurately document patient information, collection times, and results in electronic health records (EHR).
- Inventory Management: Monitor and replenish supply levels of blood collection tubes and stationery.
Qualifications
- Certification: Active Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification (e.g., ASPT, ASCP, NCA) required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional phlebotomy experience in a clinical or high-volume setting preferred.
- Licensure: Current California State Phlebotomy license is mandatory.
- Anatomy Knowledge: Strong understanding of human anatomy, vein locations, and blood collection techniques.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
