Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical equipment for complex procedures including orthopedic, neuro, and general surgeries
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies with exceptional precision
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols per OSHA and AORN standards
- Manage inventory of surgical supplies and equipment, ensuring optimal availability and cost-efficiency
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure seamless perioperative workflow
- Document procedural details accurately in electronic health records
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and process optimization
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required through NBSTSA
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience in Level I trauma or specialty surgical services
- Graduate from accredited Surgical Technology program
- Current BLS/CPR certification with ACLS preferred
- Expertise in advanced surgical instrumentation and equipment sterilization
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and surgical procedures
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Valid Texas Surgical Technologist license
