Responsibilities
- Personal Care Assistance: Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Medication Management: Remind clients to take prescribed medications on time and report any side effects or missed doses to the nursing supervisor immediately.
- Companionship & Emotional Support: Engage clients in conversation, play games, read aloud, or accompany them on walks to promote mental well-being and reduce isolation.
- Household Support: Perform light housekeeping duties such as meal preparation, laundry, and cleaning to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment.
- Vital Sign Monitoring: Accurately measure and record blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates as directed by the care plan.
- Mobility Assistance: Help clients move safely from bed to wheelchair or assist with walking using mobility aids if necessary.
Qualifications
- Certification: Valid New York State Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Experience: Prior experience in home care or long-term care settings is preferred but not always required for the right candidates.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods; physical ability to assist patients with mobility.
- Compassion & Patience: A genuine desire to help others, with a patient and non-judgmental demeanor.
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening as part of our compliance standards.
