Responsibilities

  • Personal Care Assistance: Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene to ensure their comfort and hygiene.
  • Medication Reminders: Prompt clients to take prescribed medications at scheduled times while monitoring for side effects.
  • Household Support: Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, meal preparation, and light cleaning, to maintain a safe living environment.
  • Companionship: Engage in conversation, read to clients, and provide emotional support to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.
  • Mobility Assistance: Help clients with transferring (bed to chair) and walking, using proper body mechanics to prevent injury.
  • Health Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in a client's physical or mental condition to the RN Case Manager immediately.
  • Documentation: Accurately complete daily logs and care plans as required by agency policy.

Qualifications

  • Certification Required: Current, unencumbered Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the District of Columbia.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation for client travel.
  • CPR/First Aid: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Basic First Aid certification.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately with patients and families.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods; ability to assist with patient transfers (up to 50lbs).
  • Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history and fingerprinting.
