Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws with high accuracy and patient comfort.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label all specimens to prevent errors.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards.
- Handle patient interactions with empathy, ensuring a positive experience.
- Process and log blood samples into the laboratory information system (LIS) promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized phlebotomy workspace and supply inventory.
- Assist in orientation and training of new phlebotomy staff when required.
Qualifications
- Current Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification required.
- Active Virginia State Phlebotomy License or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred but not required for exceptional candidates.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and venipuncture techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
