Responsibilities
- Perform precise venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Verify patient identities accurately and label specimens correctly for laboratory analysis.
- Adhere strictly to all infection control policies, OSHA regulations, and hospital safety protocols.
- Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures and alleviate any anxiety related to blood draws.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized phlebotomy workstation and equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff to ensure timely specimen processing.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification from a recognized body (e.g., ASCP, NAACLS).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional phlebotomy experience preferred, but willing to train enthusiastic candidates.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move equipment as needed.
