Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and managing sterile fields
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce aseptic techniques throughout surgical procedures
- Account for all surgical instruments, sponges, and needles before, during, and after operations
- Transport patients to/from operating rooms and assist with positioning for procedures
- Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis and ensure proper documentation
- Collaborate with surgical team to troubleshoot equipment issues and maintain workflow efficiency
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent scrub experience in general surgery
- BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Knowledge of sterile processing and sterilization methods
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced surgical environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to function well under pressure
- Valid California Surgical Technologist license
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
