Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile fields, instruments, and equipment per surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and suturing as directed
- Maintain sterile environments throughout surgical cases and enforce strict infection control measures
- Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before/after procedures
- Prepare and transport patients to/from operating rooms with dignity and care
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical equipment and instruments post-procedure
- Document all perioperative activities in electronic health records with precision
Qualifications
- Accredited Surgical Technology program graduate or equivalent military training
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential or commitment to obtain within 90 days
- Minimum 1 year OR experience preferred (new graduates considered with training)
- Proficiency in sterile processing techniques and instrumentation
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures across multiple specialties
- Ability to work calmly in high-pressure emergency situations
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety protocols
- Valid Nebraska Surgical Tech license or eligibility
