Responsibilities
- Perform rapid patient assessments using Emergency Severity Index (ESI) protocols
- Triage incoming patients based on acuity level and clinical urgency
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams
- Document assessments accurately in EMR systems
- Provide patient education and emotional support
- Monitor department flow and communicate bottlenecks
- Maintain strict compliance with JCAHO standards
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas (or compact state)
- Minimum 2 years emergency department experience
- BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
- Proficient in ESI triage methodology
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and de-escalation abilities
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts including weekends
