Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Train and mentor junior phlebotomy staff on best practices and compliance protocols
- Maintain accurate specimen labeling, handling, and processing per CLIA standards
- Execute quality control procedures for lab equipment and testing supplies
- Coordinate with laboratory staff for STAT and routine specimen processing
- Implement infection control protocols and maintain a sterile work environment
- Document all procedures in compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations
Qualifications
- Current Alaska Phlebotomy Technician certification required
- Minimum 3 years clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital or lab setting
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent preferred
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques and specimen processing
- Experience in staff training and quality assurance programs
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to calm anxious patients
- Proficiency in LIS/HIS systems and electronic documentation
- Valid Alaska driver's license for occasional specimen transport
