Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments for complex procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations with instrument passing and sterile techniques
- Maintain inventory and sterilization of surgical equipment (autoclave, CIDD systems)
- Document procedural counts and equipment usage in EMR systems
- Train junior technicians on OR protocols and safety standards
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless case turnover
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives for surgical outcomes
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
- Minimum 3 years of scrub experience in orthopedic/general surgery
- BLS/CPR certification with current renewal
- Proficiency in sterile processing and instrument tracking systems
- Knowledge of AORN standards and OSHA regulations
- Ability to stand for 8+ hours with frequent bending/reaching
- Strong communication skills for high-pressure environments
- Associates degree in Surgical Technology preferred
