Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for complex surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and maintaining sterile fields
- Manage inventory of surgical supplies and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
- Maintain strict compliance with OSHA, JCAHO, and AORN standards
- Mentor junior surgical techs and optimize surgical workflow efficiency
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and process enhancement
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Level I trauma center operating rooms
- Expertise in orthopedic, neuro, and cardiovascular specialties
- BLS/CPR certification with current ACLS preferred
- Proven ability to anticipate surgeon needs in high-pressure environments
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and sterilization techniques
- Associates degree in Surgical Technology or related field
- Experience with robotic surgical systems a significant plus
