Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, sterile fields, and surgical instruments for complex procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations with instrument passing and sterile technique maintenance
- Maintain accurate surgical counts and documentation per Joint Commission standards
- Train and mentor junior surgical technologists on best practices
- Coordinate with sterile processing to ensure equipment availability
- Implement infection control protocols and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 5 years of scrub experience in Level I trauma center
- Experience in orthopedic, neuro, and cardiovascular specialties
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing standards (AAMI/ST79)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Ability to work 24/7 on-call rotation
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
