Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile equipment, instruments, and supplies according to surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and managing sterile fields
- Maintain accurate instrument counts and documentation throughout surgical cases
- Ensure proper sterilization and processing of surgical equipment per OSHA and AORN standards
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams to optimize surgical workflow and patient safety
- Train junior staff on advanced surgical techniques and equipment operation
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives for surgical outcomes
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience in Level I trauma center or specialty surgical services
- Expertise in orthopedic, neurosurgical, or cardiovascular procedures preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Proven ability to maintain sterile environments under high-pressure conditions
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment maintenance
- Excellent communication skills and ability to function seamlessly in fast-paced teams
- Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or related field
