Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages with a high degree of accuracy and comfort.
- Ensure proper specimen collection, labeling, and processing according to laboratory standards and protocols.
- Greet patients warmly, explain procedures to alleviate anxiety, and maintain a sterile work environment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring full compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in inventory management of phlebotomy supplies and equipment, notifying management of shortages.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to facilitate smooth patient flow and accurate diagnostic testing.
- Participate in ongoing training and quality assurance activities to maintain high clinical standards.
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Certification (e.g., ASCP, NHA, or equivalent) required.
- Valid California Phlebotomy license.
- CPR/BLS Certification (American Heart Association) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient comfort.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting while adhering to strict safety protocols.
