As a Medical Assistant at IndyHealth, you will be the face of our clinic, ensuring our patients feel welcomed and cared for from the moment they walk through the door. You will work closely with physicians and nurses to deliver high-quality healthcare services.
Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Greet patients, verify insurance information, and prepare them for examination by the provider.
- Clinical Duties: Take and record vital signs, administer injections/medications as directed by the provider, and perform basic laboratory tests.
- Administrative Support: Manage patient records, schedule appointments, and handle incoming calls with professionalism and efficiency.
- Room Preparation: Maintain exam rooms in a clean, sterile, and organized condition to ensure infection control standards are met.
- Provider Assistance: Assist physicians during examinations, record patient history, and document treatments accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Patient Education: Provide patients with instructions on medications, diet, and follow-up care to ensure better health outcomes.
- Compliance: Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and clinic policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program and current CMA or RMA certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or medical office setting.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) software and medical office management systems.
- Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Professionalism: High level of integrity, discretion, and respect for patient confidentiality.
