Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Assist physicians and nursing staff in providing direct patient care, including rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and recording medical histories.
- Clinical Procedures: Perform basic clinical duties such as phlebotomy, EKG administration, and wound care preparation under the direct supervision of a licensed provider.
- Administrative Support: Manage front desk operations including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and maintaining accurate electronic health records (EHR).
- Communication: Act as a liaison between patients and the healthcare team, answering questions and providing clear instructions regarding medications and follow-up care.
- Infection Control: Strictly adhere to infection control protocols and sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock exam rooms and medical supplies to ensure operational readiness.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current CMA (Certified Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant), or NCMA certification is preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is a plus.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records systems (Epic or AthenaHealth experience is a plus) and strong computer literacy.
- Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients of all backgrounds.
