Responsibilities
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Perform accurate patient intake, including reviewing medical histories and updating electronic health records (EHR).
- Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) and weight.
- Prepare examination rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging necessary instruments.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and blood draws, following strict protocols.
- Administer medications, injections, and vaccines under the direct supervision of a licensed provider.
- Provide patient education on preventative care, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and HIPAA-compliant clinical environment.
Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA) highly preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced clinic setting.
- California State Medical Assistant license (if applicable by state regulation).
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems (EMR/EHR) is a plus.
