Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and check them in efficiently, verifying insurance and demographic information.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during patient examinations, ensuring patient comfort and privacy.
- Prepare and administer medications, injections, and vaccines as directed by providers.
- Perform vital signs, EKGs, and basic lab tests (phlebotomy) with precision.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) accurately, documenting patient visits and treatment plans.
- Sanitize and stock examination rooms to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
- Coordinate patient follow-ups and appointments, answering general inquires.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) or equivalent diploma from an accredited program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- California State License for Medical Assistants (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Proven experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, such as Epic or AthenaHealth.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a high-volume clinical setting.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift patients if necessary.
