Responsibilities
- Perform patient intakes, measure vital signs, and accurately record medical histories.
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations, procedures, and minor surgeries.
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments according to strict hygiene protocols.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens (blood, urine, etc.) and perform basic point-of-care testing.
- Manage Electronic Health Records (EHR) and handle administrative correspondence efficiently.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, diets, and post-procedure care.
- Coordinate patient flow to ensure minimal wait times and optimal care delivery.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from an accredited institution.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR software (Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth) is a plus.
