Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient vitals (blood pressure, temperature, weight) and prepare patients for examinations.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during clinical procedures and minor surgeries.
- Manage patient intake, including updating Electronic Health Records (EHR) accurately and efficiently.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, phlebotomy, and EKGs as required by protocol.
- Maintain strict infection control standards by sterilizing medical equipment and sanitizing examination rooms.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their health plans and insurance billing inquiries.
- Collaborate with the administrative team to ensure smooth daily clinic operations.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) is required.
- Valid New York State Medical Assistant License or proof of eligibility.
- Proficiency in EMR systems (Epic, Athenahealth, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients of diverse backgrounds.
- CPR and BLS certification (American Heart Association) is mandatory.
- Previous experience in a primary care or specialty practice setting is preferred.
