Responsibilities
- Prepare Patients: Greet patients, verify information, and prepare them for examination by the physician.
- Clinical Duties: Take and record vital signs, administer medications as directed, and perform basic laboratory tests (e.g., urine analysis, EKGs).
- Administrative Tasks: Manage patient charts, schedule appointments, and handle insurance verification and billing inquiries.
- Infection Control: Strictly adhere to sterilization and infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment.
- Communication: Act as a liaison between the patient and the healthcare team, answering questions and providing education.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
- Certification: Current CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting is highly desirable.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and strong interpersonal communication skills.
