Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake, including vitals, weight, and height measurements, ensuring accuracy and comfort.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and procedures, anticipating needs.
- Prepare examination rooms by sterilizing equipment, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean environment.
- Perform basic laboratory tasks, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and urine analysis as directed.
- Manage patient records and electronic health records (EHR) with strict adherence to confidentiality standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding prescriptions, instructions, and follow-up appointments.
- Handle incoming calls, schedule appointments, and triage patient inquiries professionally.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
- Certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) or registration (CMAA) preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a physician's office or outpatient setting is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first attitude.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment as necessary.
