Responsibilities

  • Perform patient intake, including vitals, weight, and height measurements, ensuring accuracy and comfort.
  • Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and procedures, anticipating needs.
  • Prepare examination rooms by sterilizing equipment, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean environment.
  • Perform basic laboratory tasks, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and urine analysis as directed.
  • Manage patient records and electronic health records (EHR) with strict adherence to confidentiality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding prescriptions, instructions, and follow-up appointments.
  • Handle incoming calls, schedule appointments, and triage patient inquiries professionally.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
  • Certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) or registration (CMAA) preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a physician's office or outpatient setting is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
