Responsibilities
- Perform patient vitals, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration, and record accurate data in Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Prepare patients for examination by the physician, ensuring privacy and comfort are maintained.
- Assist providers during exams and procedures, ensuring proper infection control protocols are followed.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider and according to state regulations.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, including phlebotomy and EKGs, with precision and care.
- Manage front desk and administrative duties, including scheduling appointments, answering calls, and handling patient inquiries efficiently.
- Ensure the medical office and equipment are clean, organized, and fully stocked.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent certification.
- Certification as a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) preferred.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or ambulatory setting is highly desirable.
- Strong computer proficiency with experience in EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment up to 50 lbs as needed.
