Responsibilities
- Perform routine patient vitals, medical history reviews, and prepare patients for examination by providers.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations, procedures, and minor office surgeries.
- Perform phlebotomy and collect laboratory specimens accurately for testing.
- Maintain and update Electronic Health Records (EHR) with detailed and timely documentation.
- Instruct patients on medications, post-procedure care, and follow-up appointments.
- Ensure examination rooms are sanitized, stocked, and organized for patient safety.
- Collaborate with front desk staff to manage patient flow, schedule appointments, and handle insurance verification.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and facility infection control protocols.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or equivalent) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a physician practice or clinic setting.
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR software systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong emphasis on patient empathy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks including lifting equipment or assisting patients.
- Valid Colorado driver's license and reliable transportation.
