Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Prepare patients for examinations, assist physicians during procedures, and perform basic diagnostic tests as directed.
- Vital Signs: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient records, schedule appointments, and handle insurance verification and billing inquiries.
- Phlebotomy: Draw blood samples for laboratory analysis and prepare specimens for transport.
- Medication Management: Administer medications and injections under the direct supervision of a licensed physician, ensuring proper documentation.
- Infection Control: Maintain a clean and sanitary clinical environment, adhering to strict health and safety protocols.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between patients and the medical team, answering questions and providing instructions.
Qualifications
- Education: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (CMA, RMA, or CNA certification preferred).
- Licensure: Current Illinois state Medical Assistant license required; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and computer literacy.
- Flexibility: Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Transportation: Reliable transportation is required to navigate the Chicago area.
