Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors, verifying insurance information and collecting co-pays accurately.
- Prepare examination rooms by ensuring equipment is sterilized and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Take and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature) and record them in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations, procedures, and minor office surgeries.
- Administer medications and injections as ordered by providers and under supervision.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as EKGs, urinalysis, and blood draws, ensuring accuracy and patient comfort.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is a plus.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- 1-2 years of clinical experience in a physician's office or medical clinic setting.
- Strong computer literacy, specifically with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients of all backgrounds.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume medical environment.
