Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors, verifying insurance information and collecting co-pays accurately.
  • Prepare examination rooms by ensuring equipment is sterilized and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Take and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature) and record them in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations, procedures, and minor office surgeries.
  • Administer medications and injections as ordered by providers and under supervision.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, such as EKGs, urinalysis, and blood draws, ensuring accuracy and patient comfort.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment in compliance with OSHA standards.

Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is a plus.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience in a physician's office or medical clinic setting.
  • Strong computer literacy, specifically with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients of all backgrounds.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume medical environment.
