Responsibilities
- Greet patients and verify demographic information to ensure accuracy in medical records.
- Prepare patients for examination by assisting with history taking and vitals (BP, HR, weight).
- Assist providers during physical exams, procedures, and minor office surgeries.
- Administer medications, injections, and vaccines as directed by licensed providers.
- Perform EKGs, point-of-care testing, and spirometry according to established protocols.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure the examination rooms are fully stocked and sanitized.
- Coordinate patient referrals and communicate clearly with external specialists and insurance companies.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or MA) required.
- CPR and BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a primary care or specialty practice preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical setting.
