Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, and document medical histories
- Assist physicians with clinical procedures and administer medications as directed
- Perform laboratory tests including EKGs, phlebotomy, and basic specimen processing
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and handle insurance verification
- Inventory medical supplies and sterilize equipment per OSHA standards
- Provide patient education on treatment plans and preventive care
Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in ambulatory or hospital setting
- Proficiency with EHR systems (Epic or Meditech preferred)
- Strong phlebotomy and injection administration skills
- CPR/BLS certification required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to multitask efficiently in fast-paced environment
- High school diploma or equivalent required
