Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination by assisting with history taking, changing gowns, and positioning.
- Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and point-of-care testing (POCT) accurately and efficiently.
- Administer medications and injections under the direct supervision of a licensed physician or nurse practitioner.
- Maintain patient records by updating and filing medical reports and charts, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Coordinate patient follow-up appointments and referrals to specialists.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized clinical environment for both patients and staff.
- Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Medical Assistant (MA) certification required.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS certification (if applicable).
- 1-2 years of clinical experience in a medical office or hospital setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced, urgent care environment.
- Must pass a background check and drug screen.
