Responsibilities
- Perform patient vitals, including blood pressure, temperature, and weight monitoring, and record data accurately in Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Prepare patients for examinations by assisting with history taking, changing linens, and ensuring patient comfort.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by licensed providers, strictly adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures.
- Manage front desk duties, including greeting patients, checking in, scheduling appointments, and processing insurance verification.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile environment in examination rooms and medical storage areas.
- Provide patient education and instructions regarding medications, diets, and follow-up care.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent certification (CMA, RMA, or MA).
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Previous experience in a clinical or ambulatory setting preferred.
- Strong computer proficiency with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
- Florida State Medical Assistant License (if required by facility).
