Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination by escorting them to the exam room, reviewing their medical history, and measuring their vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse).
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations by handing instruments and materials, preparing treatment rooms, and ensuring patient comfort and privacy.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urine analysis, EKGs, and throat cultures, according to established protocols.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider, strictly adhering to safety and dosage guidelines.
  • Manage patient flow efficiently by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and handling incoming inquiries.
  • Provide patient education on preventative care, medication usage, and post-procedure instructions.
  • Ensure the examination room is clean, sanitized, and stocked with necessary supplies for the next patient.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
  • Certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CMAA) or eligibility to sit for certification is preferred.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients of all ages.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) is a plus.
  • Must be able to work full-time hours with occasional flexibility for evening shifts if required.
