Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Perform patient intake, measure vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations by providers.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and nurses with procedures, administer medications, and perform basic lab tests (phlebotomy).
- Documentation: Accurately record patient information in electronic health records (EHR) and maintain medical charts.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and medical staff to ensure clear understanding of treatment plans.
- Administrative Duties: Manage front desk reception tasks, including scheduling appointments and processing insurance verifications.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to hospital protocols for sterilization and sanitation to ensure a safe environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certification: Current certification as a CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), NCMA, or equivalent.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
- Interpersonal: Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse patient populations.
- Work Ethic: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume hospital environment.
