Responsibilities
- Patient Preparation: Greet patients, verify demographics, and prepare them for examinations by taking vital signs and medical history.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and procedures, ensuring a sterile environment.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient intake, schedule appointments, and handle insurance verification and billing inquiries.
- Medication Management: Accurately administer medications and injections as prescribed, following strict safety protocols.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Lab Procedures: Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and EKGs, and prepare specimens for analysis.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to patients and families, answering questions and addressing concerns with empathy.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
- Licensure: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in electronic health record systems (Epic, Cerner) and computer literacy.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, staff, and physicians.
- Professionalism: Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment and adhere to strict medical protocols.
