Responsibilities
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and prepare them for examinations to ensure a smooth clinical flow.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and nurses with patient exams, perform phlebotomy, electrocardiograms (EKG), and other diagnostic procedures as required.
- Vital Signs: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and weight, and update medical records.
- Administrative Duties: Manage appointment scheduling, patient charting, and insurance verification to maintain efficient office operations.
- Infection Control: Adhere to strict sanitation and sterilization protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Lab Work: Collect and process laboratory specimens, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is mandatory.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical software.
