Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Accurately measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) and patient weights.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with examinations, procedures, and minor medical treatments.
- Phlebotomy: Perform venipuncture and draw blood samples for laboratory analysis in a safe and efficient manner.
- Administrative Duties: Manage patient check-in/check-out processes, verify insurance information, and maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR).
- Medication Management: Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by providers, ensuring proper documentation and safety protocols.
- Room Preparation: Prepare examination rooms for patient use, ensuring sterilization and proper supply levels.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to provide updates on patient status and care plans.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required.
- Licensure: Current Illinois state license as a Medical Assistant.
- CPR Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred, especially in a night shift role.
- Skills: Proficiency in phlebotomy and electronic health record systems (Epic, Cerner, etc.).
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently during the night shift.
- Availability: Must be available to work rotating night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
