Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, medical history, and updating electronic health records (EHR).
- Assist providers during clinical procedures, including examinations and minor office surgeries.
- Perform and process basic laboratory tests, such as blood draws, urinalysis, and EKGs, ensuring accuracy and safety.
- Administer medications, injections, and immunizations according to strict physician orders and protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterilized examination room environment.
- Manage front desk operations, including scheduling appointments, answering phone inquiries, and verifying insurance.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and ensure comfort during visits.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification as a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) is highly preferred.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS certification required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a medical office or clinic setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with a patient-centric attitude.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
