Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in processes, verifying demographic information and insurance details accurately.
- Prepare patients for examination by taking vitals, recording medical history, and explaining procedures to ensure patient comfort.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and procedures, ensuring a sterile environment and proper equipment setup.
- Perform basic laboratory tasks, including phlebotomy, urinalysis, and EKGs, adhering to strict quality control standards.
- Manage and maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and medical charts in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by providers, strictly following safety protocols.
- Coordinate patient follow-up appointments and referrals, acting as a liaison between the patient and the healthcare team.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting.
- Strong proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is highly preferred.
