Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake, measure vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations.
- Assist providers during clinical procedures and administer medications as directed.
- Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Coordinate patient scheduling, manage incoming calls, and handle insurance verification.
- Prepare lab specimens and perform basic point-of-care testing.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and safety protocols.
- Handle front desk administrative duties including check-in/check-out processes.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a physician office or clinic setting preferred.
- Proficient in electronic health records systems (Epic, Athenahealth, or similar).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first mindset.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Valid Texas driver's license and reliable transportation.
