Responsibilities
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments and equipment before patient exams.
- Take patient vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) and record them accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and EKGs, following strict safety protocols.
- Manage patient intake, including updating medical histories and insurance information.
- Schedule patient appointments, send reminder calls, and handle patient inquiries professionally.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for all patients and visitors.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Proven experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not required for top candidates.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately with patients of all backgrounds.
- Proficiency with computer systems and Electronic Health Records (EHR) software.
