Responsibilities
- Conduct patient intake screenings, including recording vital signs and medical history.
- Prepare patients for examination by the physician or nurse practitioner.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and EKGs as directed by the provider.
- Assist with minor surgical procedures and provide post-procedure care instructions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records in the EMR system.
- Coordinate patient follow-up appointments and manage prescription refills.
- Ensure the exam rooms and medical equipment are clean, stocked, and sanitized.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential required.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS certification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth).
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
