Responsibilities
- Greet patients and verify their personal and insurance information upon arrival.
- Take and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and weight.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and procedures.
- Perform basic lab tests, including phlebotomy and EKGs, following strict safety protocols.
- Maintain and update patient medical records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Prepare examination rooms for patient visits, ensuring all instruments are sterilized and ready.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by licensed healthcare providers.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS certifications.
- Strong computer literacy, specifically with EMR/EHR software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient service.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Valid New York State driver's license (if required for facility access).
