Responsibilities
- Perform patient intakes, including reviewing medical history and updating electronic health records (EHR) accurately and timely.
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and minor office surgeries, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Measure and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and weight.
- Prepare exam rooms, sterilize equipment, and manage inventory of medical supplies.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider and document all treatments in the patient chart.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, diet, and follow-up care instructions.
- Handle incoming calls professionally and route messages to appropriate staff members.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a physician's office or outpatient setting.
- Strong computer proficiency with EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients of all backgrounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting patients or equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to HIPAA compliance standards.
