Responsibilities
- Review and code medical services using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems
- Submit clean claims to insurance carriers and track payment status
- Resolve billing discrepancies through insurance and patient communication
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer regulations
- Analyze denial reports and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation
- Generate monthly billing performance reports
- Stay current with coding updates and regulatory changes
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification preferred (CPC, CCS, CMA)
- Minimum 2 years medical billing experience in ambulatory or hospital settings
- Proficiency in Epic, NextGen, or similar EHR systems
- Strong knowledge of insurance verification and claim submission processes
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
- Basic knowledge of Louisiana Medicaid/Medicare guidelines
