Responsibilities
- Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Submit clean claims to insurance payers and track reimbursement status
- Resolve claim denials and billing discrepancies through effective communication
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer regulations
- Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation for billing accuracy
- Analyze aging reports and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable
- Utilize Epic EHR system for patient data and billing workflows
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC credential required
- Expert knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines
- Proficient in medical billing software (Epic experience preferred)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Familiarity with North Carolina Medicaid and Medicare regulations
