Responsibilities
- Verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility to ensure accurate billing.
- Submit medical claims to insurance carriers electronically and via paper.
- Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records in the billing software and patient files.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports.
Qualifications
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or RHIT/RHIA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Thorough knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
