Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to rendering services to minimize claim denials.
- Accurately submit and follow up on medical claims (ICD-10 and CPT coding) to payers via clearinghouse.
- Analyze and resolve complex denied or rejected claims to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Manage accounts receivable, including posting payments and sending patient statements.
- Communicate professionally with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries and balances.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal audit standards.
- Utilize EHR/EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) to document billing activities.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CPC, CPB, or CMRS is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- In-depth knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 medical coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with electronic billing systems and medical office software.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies in data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a flexible, remote, or hybrid setting.
