Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance payers (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) accurately and timely.
- Follow up on denied or unpaid claims and initiate appeals processes as necessary.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve billing discrepancies professionally.
- Maintain and update patient records and billing documentation in the EHR system.
- Analyze accounts receivable reports to identify trends and improve collection rates.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- In-depth knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and practice management software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to detect errors in complex data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
