Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records for accuracy and completeness prior to billing.
- Submit clean claims to insurance carriers (BCBS, Aetna, UnitedHealth, etc.) and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Responsible for processing patient billing inquiries and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to update patient information and track claim status.
- Analyze denial trends and implement corrective actions to improve revenue cycle efficiency.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal coding standards (ICD-10, CPT).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing, Coding, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CPC-H certification is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth) is required.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare reimbursement models.
- Excellent analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with patients and insurance adjusters.
