Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all age groups with precision and care.
- Ensure all blood samples are properly labeled, processed, and transported to the laboratory for analysis.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control standards, OSHA guidelines, and HIPAA privacy regulations.
- Build rapport with patients to alleviate anxiety and ensure a comfortable experience during procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and laboratory technicians to coordinate specimen collection schedules.
- Maintain accurate documentation of collection procedures and patient reactions.
- Manage inventory levels for phlebotomy supplies and report shortages promptly.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification (e.g., ASCP, ASPT) required.
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting is preferred.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Strong manual dexterity and ability to perform venous access in challenging anatomical locations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation and ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
